Nothing is better than freshly brewed coffee first thing in the morning or at any other time of the day. Most people have a coffee machine at home these days but these generally take up a lot of kitchen bench space that you could instead be using for meals preparation.

To solve this problem, why not create a cool coffee bar in your Swan Hill home instead. We have some inspiration to get you started.

Use an awkward niche or corner in your kitchen

If your kitchen has an awkward niche or corner that you just don’t know what to do with, why not turn it into a coffee station. Of course, you want to ensure that there’s a powerpoint nearby so that you can plug in your coffee machine. If there’s no power point, it should be easy enough to get an electrician in to install one for you.

The next thing you want to do is get a piece of furniture that fits into the space. Be imaginative here. It could be a dresser, an old desk that you can revamp, a butcher’s block or even a TV unit.

If the piece of furniture you’ve selected is old, you can repaint it to match your kitchen décor. Make sure that it’s large enough to fit your coffee machine and that there is storage for all your other coffee bits and pieces.

If there’s room, you could even add a small bar fridge to keep all of your milks in.

Decorate your coffee bar

Once you have the coffee bench or table in place, it’s time to decorate your coffee bar. To add some pizzazz, you could wallpaper the wall behind or even add one of those creative vinyl decals. Remember that you want this to be a lively and dedicated coffee space.

You might also like to put a hanging rack for your coffee mugs above the bench or simply add a small shelf or two on the wall. Also, have a look next time you’re out shopping to find some nice coffee-related signs that you can hang on the wall or place on a shelf. You might even want to get a coffee themed mat to place on the floor in front of your coffee bar.

Add the final elements

Once you’re happy with how your coffee bar looks, it’s time to add the most important elements. First, place your coffee machine (or coffee machines, if you have more than one) on the bench and plug it in. Make sure that you position it in such a way that it will be easy to use.

Now it’s time to add the final touches. Hang or place your nicest coffee mugs on the shelves. You might even want to splash out and buy some new ones that will fit perfectly with the theme of your coffee bar.

If your coffee machine uses pods, you can buy some great holders that these will fit into to keep them out on display. Even a nice cane basket filled with your favourite pods will look great. For ground coffee or coffee beans, why not invest in an attractive canister or two that will look amazing on your new coffee bar.

And, for a bit of luxury, why not invest in some lovely syrups that you can add to your favourite cup of coffee. You can purchase empty dispensers or squeeze bottles to place these in and create some gorgeous labels to go on them.
