Spring has finally arrived and it’s time to freshen up your home and invite the glorious spring weather in. It’s also the perfect time to swap out your warm winter décor items for some fresh new spring homewares.

Lighten up your home

One of the first things you want to do as the weather gets warmer is to throw open all the windows and let the lovely, warm spring air in. As you do this, have a look at your curtains or window coverings.

If you have heavy drapes or blinds that have helped to keep the cold out, why not swap these for some lighter, breezier fabrics. While you’re changing over your curtains, you might also want to think about some of the other fabric items that you use to decorate your home.

For example, those cosy winter cushions on your couch can easily be replaced with some new spring-themed ones in lovely cool fabrics and colours. H Homewares at 224 Campbell Street, have some lovely spring cushions that you can choose from in gorgeous stripes and floral designs.

You might also want to check out Rustic Ivy at 96 Chapman Street. They’re primarily a florist shop but also have a gorgeous array of homewares that will get your home ready for spring. While you’re there, you might also like to have a peek into their plant room. Nothing says spring better than a new plant or two to brighten up any room.

Freshen up your bedroom

More than likely, your bedroom has been nice and cosy over winter with warm woollen throws, blankets and rugs. As spring arrives, it’s time to put these away and add some gorgeous new accents in bright colours and soft florals.

For some fresh new bed linen, check out Linen House. They have a divine range of crisp new linens in cream and peach as well as bold floral designs.

While you’re in the bedroom, why not add some citrus-scented candles from Handmade By Karajade. You can visit their shop at 45 Murrawee Road. While you’re there, have a look at the lovely melt wax warmers. These would look great in any bedroom.

Add some bright new colours to your home

In winter, we seem to stick to warm colours like mustard, orange, sage green, and deep red. But now that spring is here, it’s time to swap these out for brighter colours to cheer up the entire household.

For some inspiration, check out the colourful bath mats at From Little Things. This flower shop not only sells flowers but also an entire range of colourful homewares. Of course, while you’re there, be sure to treat yourself to a lovely bunch of daffodils and a colourful vase to display them in.

Of course, when changing your soft furnishings, you’ll have to find somewhere to store your winter linens, throws, and cushions. For this, you might want to visit the Reject Shop for some great storage crates, boxes, and hampers.

And while you’re searching for the perfect spring accessories for your home, don’t forget the many op shops. Facebook groups and even the Facebook marketplace.

You might just find some rustic old furniture pieces that you can upcycle with stencils, paints, decoupage papers, and brushes from Finders Keepers Barn.

However, if you’re after a gorgeous custom piece of bespoke furniture, get in touch with Delmenico Custom Furniture. They make unique furniture such as dining tables, cabinets, and even benchtops from reclaimed timber.
